1700 Point Stick
This stick was used by Wayne Gretzky on November 6, 1988 to notch his 1700 NHL point, as denoted by the Kings equipment man down the shaft of the stick. Save this is also marked on the front of the shaft by the trainer. Gretzky assisted on Dave Taylor’s power play goal and was also assisted by Bernie Nicholls. Gretzky had 2 goals and an assist on the night to help his LA Kings win 5-3 over the Chicago Black Hawks in Chicago. Very rare to get anything like this from the Great one. This stick is also accompanied by the Puck used to score the goal that night and has the Chicago crest covered by the trainers tape where #99 1700 PT is marked. Both items come directly from the Kings equipment man at the time and is accompanied by his Letter of authenticity for the stick and puck.
There are only 7 other players in NHL history to record 1700 points but Gretzky was the youngest and fastest to accomplish the feat. The other players on this level of excellence are Mario Lemieux with 1,723 points, Steve Yzerman with 1,755, Marcel Dionne with 1771, Ron Francis with 1,798, Gordie Howe with 1,850, Mark Messier with 1,887 and Jaromir Jagr with 1,921. Jagr is the only active player on the list. Gretzky retired with 2,857 points, 936 points higher than Jagr and is just an unreal number to wrap your head around when you see what the other super stars on this list finished with.
