Andre Savard 1976
Really nice Andre Savard gamer here from the 1974-75 and 1975-76 seasons. Savard used this one for both seasons with out the Bear Heads in 74-75, with the Centennial patches in 75-76 , and the pre season in 1976-77 with the Bear Heads affixed. The Boston bruins were noted recyclers of jersey and this one has seen many a game at the Garden. Hammered with repairs, sweat stains and signs of the patches being removed and replaced are really nice features of these sweet Bruins durene jerseys. Photo matched to the photos below with the stitching detail on the collar being the exact match. The other two game action shots are also matches with all patch arm numbers in exact positions. The press photo was taken before or during the 74-75 season. The shot of Savard playing the Atlanta Flames is from that same season and the other picture is from the 75-76 season as the Centennial patches are now on the jersey. This one and the Milbury from the same seasons and in a separate post, were my first two Bruins jerseys I fount in the hobby. Nice to still have them both.
Andre Savard was born in Temiscamingue, Quebec Canada in 1953. He was the Boston Bruins first round pick in the 1973 NHL draft. After playing for the Bruins for 3 years, he signed with the Buffalo Sabres and spent 7 seasons there before being traded to the Quebec Nordiques. The Nordiques would be the last team Andre would suit up for having played for them for 2 years. All in all, Savard skated in 790 NHL regular season games and added another 85 in playoff competition. The net was filled 130 times by the fast skating forward and helped 175 others tally as well.
