This is one sweet jersey. First year Hartford Whalers gamer with heavy use, worn by Blaine Stoughton during the 1979 1980 season. Heavy mesh Stall and Dean with size 48 year tag and 9 for 1979 year tag. Stick marks, board burns, board paint transfers, washed out blood stains inside and out pilling with several un-repaired holes and some team repair work. The photo is from the 79-80 season in Toronto and is most likely the jersey offered here.
Blaine Stoughton led the NHL in goals during the 1979-80 season, tallying 56 times. Some guy named Wayne Gretzky took over after this season. The following three seasons saw Stoughton score 43, 52 and 45 respectively.
Stoughton played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Cincinnati Stingers of the WHA, and he finished his career with the New York Rangers.
This historic jersey will take its place on your wall of fame and would fit nice in anyone NHL collection. Worn while he led the league in goals, it would be hard to find a better example for your collection.
