The name Dave Stieb struck fear in American league hitters during his tenure in Baseball. His sharp slider and fastball that ducked and dodged bats for years from his office on the mound, made some hope they were not in the line up the nights Stieb took the hill. He pitched for the Blue Jays for almost all of of 15 year career with a short stint with the Chicago White Sox in 1993. He returned to baseball in 1998 to finish off a story book career with the team that he started with, the Jays. In the season this particular jersey was worn, Stieb went 17-14 and led the league with 19 complete games and 288 innings. The Jays hadn't yet begun to play good baseball so these stats are amazing considering that fact.
This jersey was originally acquired by a Toronto Blue Jays club house attendant after the 1982 season. It is one if the nicest Stiebs I've seen with wear all over all identifiers and having been washed many times over.
