This bat came directly out of the visiting teams club house in Toronto.
Eddie Murray is a former Major League Baseball player and coach who is an eight-time All-Star, Gold Glove Award winner and Hall of Famer. He spent most of his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles from 1977 to 1988 where he won Rookie of the Year and is ranked fourth in team history in both games played (1,884) and hits (2,080). Murray averaged 28 HRs and 99 RBIs, making him a perennial candidate for MVP Award. He had 996 runs batted in the 1980s, more than any other player. After his playing career, Murray coached for the Orioles, Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Dodgers. Eddie Murray was a switch-hitting powerhouse, after 21 seasons he retired in 1977 with 504 HRs, 1,917 RBIs and 3,255 hits. He is the third player in history, after Hank Aaron and Willie Mays, to record both 3,000 hits and 500 home runs.
In the 1980 season, he hit .300 (a career first), having 116 RBIs, 32 home runs, 36 doubles, and 179 hits in 158 games. While only playing in 99 games due to the player's strike, in 1981 Murray hit .294 along with 78 RBIs (which led the American League), 22 home runs (tied for the American League lead), 21 doubles and 111 hits. He returned to full form in 1982, hitting for .316 along with 110 RBIs, 32 home runs, 30 doubles, and 174 hits in 151 games.
