This Fred McGriff worn jersey comes from his first full season in major league baseball in 1987. He had only 5 at bats after being called up late in the 1986 season, making this his rookie jersey. This is one tough jersey to locate as i've only seen one other of the Crime Dogs Jays jerseys.
McGriff should be in the Baseball Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown. Flat out, this guy was awesome and his numbers say the same. In an era with players smashing steroid aided home runs, this guy was a clean mean hitting machine. His 493 home runs is just a testament to his consistent play during his 19 year tenure in a big league jersey. I was lucky enough to see him play live many times in my home town of Toronto. All he did was quietly do everything a ball players is supposed to do and went about it with class which is what the Hall Of fame is all about.
He played for the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves. Tamps Bay Devil Rays, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers over those 19 big league seasons.
