A really nice all original Mets flannel jersey here from New York Mets pitcher, Galen Cisco. This jersey worn first by Galen during the 1964 season, with the Worlds Fair Patch and then again during the 1965 season when the front numbers 26, were added. The patch was worn for both seasons. The tagging in the neck reads 26-44-1964-2 denoting player number, size, year and set number respectively. Shows incredible 2 season use and is a size 44 Wilson. Mets flannels are hard to find with specialty patches and this one is a beauty. Galen Cisco threw 191 innings in 1964 and 122 in 1965.
The photo match is very nice as it shows the exact button placement as well as the Worlds Fair patch. The one picture is from Spring Training 1964 before the patch was affixed to the shoulder but notice the exact placement of the buttons.Â
Galen Cisco is a former Major League Baseball player and coach who pitched in nearly 200 games, including 78 starts, nine complete games, three shutouts, two saves, and a 1.16 strikeout-to-walk ratio (325-to-281) over his seven-year major league career. A righthanded curveball specialist, he entered the Major Leagues in 1961 with the Boston Red Sox, playing a little over a season for them before the New York Mets acquired him September 1962 where he posted a .500 record in his four late-season appearances, including a complete game September 21st. Following his career as a pitcher in 1969, Galen went on to become an outstanding pitching coach (Kansas City Royals, Montreal Expos, San Diego Padres, Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies).  He served in this position for 28 seasons, 17 of which his teams recorded winning percentages above the .500 mark. Galen was a staff member for seven division champions and six second-place teams. He spent six seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays helping the team to win three consecutive American League East Division titles (1991–93) and back-to-back World Series Championships (1992–93).
