Very tough to find George Brett all original 1979 game used Jersey. Brett wore this road jersey while playing for the Kansas City Royals and leading the American league in hits with 212. Season long use is evident with several loose threads and areas of excellent wear to all identifiers. This jersey was originally obtained from long time Royals bat boy, Gregory Stiegler. He kept this jersey for 40 years and with good reason. incredible wear, impeccable provenance and a hall of fame players jersey, doesn’t come around often. Very happy to add this to the game used only collection.
George Brett followed up his league leading season in 1979, with an MVP season in 1980 in which he almost his 400. A feat last done by Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox in 1941. Brett was a hitting machine and his stats show his hitting prowess. 3,154 hits holds him in first place for left turns for all third baseman and sits 16th all time. He is one of only 4 major league players to have 3,000 hits, 300 home runs and a 300 lifetime average. The other 3 are Hank Aaron, Stan Musial and Willie Mays. Brett also won a batting title in three different decades, becoming the only player in history ever to do so.
