Gordie Howe was Mr.Hockey for a reason. Playing in 6 different decades, he had it all. Tough as nails and would beat teams in all different ways. Beat you to the puck and beat you at glove drop time. Howe played in 1,767 NHL games and tallied 801 goals and 1,049 assists. He won the Stanley Cup four times with the Detroit Red Wings. The big man also won the Heart Trophy 6 times as the NHL's most valuable player.
This game issued stick comes from Gordie Howes final NHL season with the Hartford Whalers. In the photo of him using this exact style Sherwood, you can notice how wide the blade is which is a very neat detail as is with the one shown here. Date stamped 5 Dec 1979, for when it was made for him. This stick comes from a long time equipment man from the Canadiens.
Gordie Howe played for the Detroit Red Wings, Houston Aeros, New England Whalers and the Hartford Whalers. He last skated for the Detroit Vipers in 1997 for one game to complete a long storied career. Very nice to have something from Gordie Howe in the collection.
