Beautifully hammered Guy Lafleur jersey. Matched to a game in Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens March 6, 1982 season. The jersey has so many repairs, it may have been used the following season. I have spoken to a player on the Canadiens during this era that the club did use jerseys for more than one season. I will be doing more photo matching to see if that is the case with this sweet hall of fame Maska gamer. I have now located several more photo matches to this Lafleur gamer. They are from 2 games at maple Leafs Gardens. The March 6th game as before and one more December 12, 1981. All are of this fine jersey. Notice the right arm repairs and all identifiers matching up perfectly. The puckering on the back numbers are also a nice match to this hall of fame players jersey. Thanks to Graig Abel, long time Leafs photographer, for these photos.
Modified fight strap as most teams did with these Maska jerseys. The first ones were cut out and proper, more secure garter belt straps were installed. Guy Lafleur continues to be one of the biggest fan favourites in Montreal Canadiens history. Lafleur is a consummate hall of fame NHL player. The Flower played for the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Quebec Nordiques during his 17 year NHL Career. He scored 560 goals and had 793 assists in 1,127 games.
