Luis Alcaraz 1969 First Season Kansas City Royals Game Used Jersey

This jersey and pants were worn in 1969 during the Kansas City Royals first year in existence. Luis Alcaraz donned this Rawlings size 42 flannel while playing on the road after being traded to the Royals during the off season. This all original example carries the 1969 100th Anniversary patch for major league baseball and was sold by Alcaraz himself to an auction house many years ago. 42 69 39 for size season and players number are embroidered on the left outside hem with the dry clean patch showing a very frayed set 1, 1969 tagging. Heavy wear throughout with fraying to all identifiers, dirt stains and general filth with some of the piping on the rear neck coming loose. The pants also show heavy wear, Rawlings size 32 and sport a 1968 flag tag as these pants were carried over from the previous season. Alcaraz 32/33 24 inseam embroidered on felt tagging with heavy staining from a blue undershirt. Really nice set from the first season in the majors from a now storied franchise, add this to your 1969 flannel collection.

Luis Alcaraz is a former Major League Baseball player.  Alcaraz was signed as a free agent by the Milwaukee Braves in January 1959 and then traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers before the 1960 season. He spent several seasons in the minor leagues before making his Major League debut at the age of 26 in September 1967.  After two seasons in Los Angeles, he was purchased from the Dodgers by the Kansas City Royals on October 21, 1968. He played for the Royals for two more seasons and then was traded by the Royals to the Chicago White Sox in March 1971.  Luis Alcaraz played for 4 years and compiled a career batting average of .192 with 4 home runs and 29 RBI in his 115-game career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Royals.  He last took the field during the 1970 season.
