Tom Yawkey Boston Red Sox Game Worn Pants

This pair of pants was worn by long time Red Sox owner, Tom Yawkey. Embroidered with his full name, these very large size 52 Tim McAuliffe pants, tagged 59 for season and 52 31 for size and inseam, are flat out Fenway Park relics. These are the only Yawkey items we have encountered and likely were worn during batting practise and pre game stretching while he looked over his ball players. Well used with sweat stains all around the inside band and all over the pocket inserts.

Tom Yawkey was an American industrialist and Major League Baseball executive.  On February 25, 1933, Yawkey bought the Red Sox for $1.25 million, five days after he turned 30. He became team president and was the sole owner of the team for 44 seasons until his passing in July 1976. To get the team ready for Opening Day 1934, he spent $1.5 million on repairs to Fenway Park giving it much of its present look. Yawkey was posthumously inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.
