One of the nicest guys around the ball park during my time collecting bats was Tony Fernandez. He always had time for us kids and all fans outside of Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. In those days, the players would park near the back gate of the ball park and walk in. Tony was always mobbed for autographs and pictures and always took his time to say hi and sign everyones items, with out fail. He made you feel as if you knew him. A True gentleman of the game and life, who left us way too soon.
This jersey from Tony's return and last season with the Blue Jays, is the last one he wore as an All Star. He had an amazing season in 1999, clocking in his best batting average of his career at .328. his career started with the Jays in 1983 and played for them for 11 seasons, mixing in the San diego Padres, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians and rounding out his career with the Blue Jays in 2001. A fitting last game for this Blue Jays icon. The jersey shows great wear with all numbers and lettering puckered from washings and has the tag curled up from use. The jersey comes with the Jays COA and matching hologram card. Fantastic jersey from one of the Blue Jays best players ever.
The photo of Tony looks to be a match for this exact jersey with all identifiers lining up and buttons in exact positioning but cant say for sure its a bang on match.
